I recently had the opportunity to photograph the beautiful Gonzalez family. We had to brave the summer heat but we got some stunning photos during our 30-minute session! Baby Benicio behaved like a champ and only started getting a little fussy towards the very end of our session. For those of you wondering about the experience of having family photos taken with little ones (under 1 year old), don't worry, it's a breeze! Well, there wasn't much of a breeze that day, but you get my drift. Okay, I'll stop with the puns now! haha.

erere a few principles that we implemented to ensure a smooth and enjoyable family portrait session

  1. Make sure that your baby or (any child for that matter) is fed prior to the shoot. Nothing disrupts a family portrait session more than a hungry baby!
  2. Keep moving. Movement is key to prevent things from getting boring, stale, or awkward, plus it will result in more dynamic images! We switched up the pose many times during our 30-minute session. Oh, and in case you're wondering, yes, 30 minutes is more than enough time to capture some magic!
  3. Capture photos of the whole family together at the beginning and then break off and have mom and dad each take turns with the kids!
  4. We also had a cooler of cold water handy (which I always bring for my clients) to stay hydrated and cool off DURING OUR SHOOT, especially if it's hot out!

I hope y'all enjoyed these quick pointers. Stay tuned for more to come! Also, check out some of the amazing photos THAT we captured during this family portrait session below!
